fight for web 2.0
May 31st, 2006 · No Comments
Tom Raftery a well know blogger, podcaster and organizer of Web 2.0 conference had issues with CMP Media/O Reilly. The question is who owns Web 2.0, in my opinion it belongs to the company who trademarked it. I completey agree with Tim , if you read his post carefully you will understand CMP/O Reilly doesn’t own web 2.0 term, but the only condition you can’t name a conference or a event as Web 2.0.
Just to be clear, neither CMP or O’Reilly is claiming the right to all use of the term Web 2.0, as some of the posters assert. We just want to keep other conference companies from putting on events that trade on the name and concept that we created. And don’t tell me it’s not possible to have a Web 2.0-related conference without using Web 2.0 in the name! Microsoft’s Mix 06, Google’s Zeitgeist, the Ajax Experience — these are all web 2.0-related conferences that don’t use the name.

Yahoo E-mail servers slow
April 15th, 2006 · No Comments
In testing 16 Yahoo mail servers, Dymeta Inc., based in Bettendorf, Iowa, found on average that the servers were unable to accept email 45 percent of the time, and the number of available servers ranged from as low as four to as high as 12,
Some E-mail listing management companies face the same issue as Craigslist. Last November, the free service based in San Francisco said in its online system status report that it was forced to temporarily shut off mail to Yahoo because the delivery rate was so poor that it caused a backup in the site’s own servers.

Interesting blog post from Ajit,Mobile 2.0 Blogger on Viral Marketing , he says there is no marketing person who understands viral marketing. The reasons are
a)The basics of viral marketing are easy to get
b)Viral marketing is a function of product design.
His advice is –
you can get to know all you need to know about the generics of viral marketing from the public domain. You should then start with the product design team and work from there. If you already have a product and then retrospectively try to think of how to ‘viral market’ it – you have lost it already!
